Brief Profile:
Dr. Giriraj Bora is one of the youngest consultants in the Liver Transplant / HPB program at Artemis Hospitals. He is a graduate of J L N Medical College, Ajmer, where he also completed his General Surgery training. He then joined the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) in Lucknow as a Senior Resident in GI Surgery. Dr. Bora later completed his MCh superspecialty program in GI Surgery at G B Pant Hospital, Delhi. After finishing his training, he worked as a Consultant GI Surgeon in Jaipur before pursuing his career in Liver Transplantation.
Dr. Bora joined CLBS as a Fellow in Liver Transplant / HPB Surgery in 2011, where he trained extensively in liver transplantation and HPB Surgery. In January 2013, he became a Consultant at CLBS. He is a key member of the core surgical team at Artemis and plays a crucial role in donor evaluation before liver transplants.
Dr. Bora has a special interest in:
- Liver transplantation & liver resections for Hepatocellular cancers
- Combined liver-kidney transplantation
- Pancreatic Surgery (including Whipple’s pancreaticoduodenal resections and surgery for chronic pancreatitis)
His research focuses on the hemodynamic changes during liver transplant and the effects of IVC cross-clamping in LDLT. He has numerous publications in the field of liver transplantation and GI surgery and has presented at prestigious conferences like the ILTS International Liver Transplant Society conferences in San Francisco (2012) and Sydney (2013).
